Michael Jackson a popular pop singer died in June 25, 2009, recorded an Album called “Thriller”.
Jackson’s music surged in popularity after his unexpected death in June 2009 at age 50. Jackson’s sixth solo album “Thriller”, just went 30-times multi-platinum, and reach more than 100 million sales worldwide.
John Branca, co-executor of Jackson’s estate said,
“‘Thriller’ continues to be the yardstick against which all other albums are measured”
Thriller was released on November 30, 1982 and produced by both Quincy Jones and Jackson himself.
RIAA chairman and CEO Cary Sherman stated,
“What an exceptional achievement and testament to ‘Thriller’s’ enduring spot in our hearts and musical history. This is the first time an artist has crossed the 30X multi-Platinum plateau.”
Epic Records chairman and CEO L.A. Reid said,
“Thriller was groundbreaking and electrifying… it was perfection. I am extremely proud that Michael is the heart and soul of Epic Records and he will forever remain the one-and-only King of Pop”
Still, there’s a chance that “Thriller” may one day relinquish its title if Eagles fans get together and buy lots and lots of “Eagles/Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975” — which is in second position on the all-time list with 29 million copies on the meter.
