Karachi Election Results 2015: (Updating)
People are very enthusiastic to cast their votes and coming to polling station time by time. Though through some reliable resources, we have collected some information as to what is going on today’s Election in Karachi.
In Karachi, there are 209 union committees and 38 union councils. Voters in urban areas of Karachi will elect 1,210 members while those in rural areas will vote for 304 seats in 38 union councils.
Election Commission of Pakistan declared 1,791 polling stations out of total 4,141 as highly sensitive. Only 234 polling stations in the city are declared normal.
The Sindh government has deployed 35,057 police personnel, 7,400 Rangers soldiers and 10 army companies each with 80 soldiers in the city.
Election stuff was also being transported to respective polling stations in Karachi and 12 districts of Punjab last night.
Home Secretary Mohammad Waseem told Qaim Ali Shah that 12 political parties — PPP, PML-N, MQM-A, PTI, Sunni Tehrik, JUI-F, Jamaat-e-Islami, JUI-P, ANP, PML-F, MQM-H, Qaumi Awami Tehrik — and a large number of independent candidates were contesting the elections.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan directives, original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) is must for casting vote. Driving licence, office card and CNIC copy would not be acceptable; however, voters having expired CNICs would be allowed to cast votes. Carrying mobile phone in the polling station is strictly prohibited.
